Chapter 30.2 the destruction of nanites and miplatates.

The corvette was noticeably different from the Normandy I was already familiar with. Despite the fact that the Kratos was almost half the size of the frigate, its interior was much more conveniently planned and divided, devoid of unnecessary corridors and voids. Thanks to this, the two-deck ship, half of the internal volume of which was occupied by the propulsion array, engineering and reactor compartment, had a full-fledged infirmary, an arsenal, and a roomy hold with the Virk Turian all-terrain vehicle standing in it. There was even room for quite normal cabins on the ship: two six-bed cabins and one rather spacious one for the captain or, in this case, the owner. The navigation bridge is combined with the wheelhouse, and did not take up so much space unnecessarily. Naturally, there was no beautiful but completely useless holographic map of the galaxy. The Kratos was originally designed for one reasonable person, and it was assumed that a single pilot would be enough to control this ship. VI replaced the crew and brought all current information about the condition of the ship directly to the control room. However, no one bothered to recruit a crew.

I liked Kratos. Compact, convenient, devoid of completely unnecessary rooms. A single room replaced both the dining room, the briefing room, and the recreation area, dividing almost in half by a movable bulkhead if necessary. With the estimated number of reasonable people on board the corvette, there was no need to separate these three rooms. The infirmary was located near the hold near the arsenal, and not like on the Normandy: to carry a wounded soldier from the ramp to the infirmary, you will have to go through the entire ship. I have a couple of days until the corvette goes to the rendezvous point with the Normandy, and, in an amicable way, it's worth investigating the condition of Saren on board this ship. I won't be able to work calmly at the Norm without looking at prying eyes.

Damn it... At least take it and don't go back to the frigate...

Saren's body rose into the air and froze in the middle of the infirmary. I unfolded the aura, saturating the space with energy. Now... suspended animation. The Turian's life processes were slowing down, actually stopping. In this state, I can keep him for seven hours without endangering the brain. It should be enough to fully examine the body, remove the armor and these tubes. Let's see how bad it really is.

After half an hour, I realized what was good about Saren's condition was the fact that he was still alive and relatively sane... Relatively.

They managed to remove the armor from him with a creak and obscenity. When I saw the true state of Arterius ... I have no clear words or emotions left. Just gestures and expressions! And a state of deep shock. HOW DID HE EVEN LIVE LIKE THIS? The entire left side of the body is disfigured and twisted, as if it had been hit by at least a rocket. The shoulder and arm are a Geth's prosthesis. The entire left side of the rib cage is missing altogether: the bones are replaced by a metal frame that is attached directly to the fragments. The Shoulder blade is kept in a pile thanks to the numerous pins. There is no clavicle on the left at all — it is replaced by another implant. There is no clavicle on the left at all — it is replaced by another implant. Spine... It is broken in three places, the neck at the base of the skull is supported only by implants, the vertebrae have been replaced with prostheses. The left lung is practically absent. This is not counting minor injuries, of which there were simply an incredible number. There is simply no left femur in the middle — two pieces of split bone are connected by metal. Super simple! And on top of all this is indocrination, which is actively developing and has already begun to rebuild bones and internal organs.

There are no words.

I knew that the condition of the Arterius would be... not the best. Seeing these tubes and a prosthetic arm, I was already mentally ready to grow this arm. But the reality turned out to be much scarier and bleaker: Saren Arterius has been a cripple for quite some time.

No matter how he died after the destruction of the Nanites...

I paced around the infirmary around the motionless body in the air. I just can't wait to get to the Normandy infirmary. Saren won't live to see it. It's almost pointless to treat it while nanites are in the body. This will only spur the development of indoctrination. But leaving him as an eviscerated body is also not an option. I cannot lift SUCH a body onto a frigate.

"Nihlus, can you hear me?"

"Yes." the answer after a short pause.

"Turn back."

Pause.

"Rin?"

"We're going back to Vermaer. Choose a quiet place for us, away from prying eyes."

"I understood." a calm answer.

The Corvette shook violently. What I like about both Nihlus and Garrus is the lack of the habit of asking dumb questions. If we have to go back, we're going back. They'll get the information out later if they don't get answers along the way, but that'll be later. And now — not a single superfluous word.

We returned to the planet quickly: some twenty minutes, and the ship stopped on the flat grass of a small mountain plateau.

Nihlus entered the infirmary, took a couple of steps by inertia and stopped, looking at his mentor, who was motionless in the air, surrounded by the implants I had removed. Garrus just shook his head and remained standing by the door, leaning his shoulder against the wall.

"Rin..." Nihlus slowly approached, gazing intently at the mutilated body. "What?.. What's wrong with him?"

"And then you'll find out from Saren himself." The implants were lowered into a large box in the corner of the infirmary. "I just took off his armor and the implants that can be removed without surgery."

"I knew he had been shot in the shoulder. But I didn't realize it was that bad... bad."

"Haven't seen him for a long time?"

"Long ago." Nihlus replied somewhat confusedly. "Saren did not return to Citadel Space often, preferring to travel through Traverse and Terminus Systems."

"Apparently, he's not very talkative." I muttered.

"He rarely shared his problems." Nihlus nodded in agreement. "I had no idea that things had gone so far. During communication sessions, he preferred to hide his left side."

"I noticed this back at the Council." I sighed. "Okay, why bother now? Of course, I didn't expect everything to be simple, but I didn't even imagine that everything would be so bad. I'll have to use up my old stocks... for the sake of such an occasion."

On our way out of the infirmary, Tali met us. The girl noticed that we had returned to the planet and went to find out the reason. When Tali saw Saren, she just gasped, pressed her palm to the helmet in front of her lips, flashing outright horror.

"Isn't he handsome?" I chuckled wryly, pointing at the bloodied and mutilated body hanging in the air.

The Quarian was so taken aback that she couldn't find anything to say, and just watched in confusion as we exited the ship, genuinely not understanding where I was dragging the wounded Turian FROM the infirmary.

"Stay by the ship." I turned my head, staring intently into worried green eyes.

Nihlus nodded slowly and returned to the ramp.

After walking half a kilometer away, I stopped at a large flat stone that protruded slightly from the grass. You never know how in this reality the weaving will twist during work? There is little joy in being in the middle of an uninhabited planet with a ship wrecked by carelessness. The splash should not spread beyond three hundred meters. The wrong power. But a simple precaution doesn't hurt.

Obeying my will, Saren's body hovered motionless half a meter above the surface of the moss— and lichen-covered stone, dropping blue drops that glowed faintly with an azure glow. Fucking nanites! They are already visible visually. This means that there is still quite a bit left, and indoctrination will go like an avalanche, completely subjugating and rebuilding the victim's body. We stopped by on time...

I reached into my pocket, summoning the item I needed, my fingers tingled, and a small rectangular transparent plate lay in my palm, gently shimmering with a golden-green glow. It's not really an artifact. This is energy embodied in a physical form and taking the form of a material object. A rolled-up and ready-to-work weave, saturated with energy to the limit. It's expensive and powerful, but unfortunately it's disposable. And I only have one left.

The task of this particular weave is simple and extremely understandable, but incredibly difficult to perform: to remove from the body affected by it everything that is superfluous and harms its normal functioning. Interestingly, it doesn't matter what kind of combat dirty trick is used: it reads information directly from the body and aura of its victim, adjusting the result to the optimal parameters for the body and soul. It doesn't heal anything. It only removes the excess. Exactly, neatly. At the subatomic level. It's an indispensable thing when you live in a world with a well-developed field of Life magic and chimerology... considering what kind of trash the scumbags from magical science didn't splash out on the battlefields.

Well, Saren, let's see how much your reality and the All-Changing Chaos love you.

I placed the artifact on the Turian's chest, stepped out of the danger zone, and activated the weave. The record lit up, burst, and swelled into a greenish cloud. I used to often see such clouds on the battlefield... I never thought that I would use the battle weave for healing...

A wave of bright flashes passed through his body, which was convulsed in agony, and his eyes blazed with fire, burning out almost completely. The intensity of the disintegration fires gradually faded, and after working out, the spell dissipated, absorbed by the biofield of the planet.

Is it over? I took a closer look at the body. Yes. It's over. There was not a single blue light on the body, not a single flash of decay. The spell worked. The blood escaping from the tips of the claws was the usual dark blue color without a single glimmer of the azure glow of the nanites.

After the weaving job, Saren looked... Terrifying! The multitude of small ulcers left over from the nanite burnout created the sensation of a skinned body with selectively stripped skin. Almost everything was affected, except, thank all gods and demons, the brain. His body convulsed in small spasms of agony: his nervous system was on the verge of disintegration. Fucking nanites! Yes, Saren will die like that without any bullet in his head!

Shake the stocks, so shake it... I'll manage somehow... or I'll make new ones. Someday. Maybe. If possible.

Four large blue crystals appeared on the palm of his hand, softly glowing blue: concentrated vital energy in a self-disintegrating storage. It's a convenient thing to work with, but it's hard, long, and costly to create.

The first stone fell directly into the wound on his chest, flashed with a burst of released energy, and the Turian's body was enveloped in a soft golden glow. This is enough to accelerate regeneration by leaps and bounds, taking it far beyond the body's capabilities. However, not for long. Three crystals should be enough for me to repair the most critical damage. If I don't URGENTLY restore the circulatory and nervous systems, Saren will die quickly and guaranteed.

The last crystal was barely enough to stop the decay and degradation of the nervous system and restore the damaged spinal cord. What can I say, Saren Arterius, the native universe HATES you! But the First Foundation, perhaps, favors. You will live.

Burn Nazara in the flames of decay, how much more fuss I have to make! And you won't be able to get off with a simple recharge... We'll have to take extreme measures... I hate using THIS method of treatment...
