Carrying the things he'd just bought, Touma and Index followed Takumi and Bronya into a nearby caf. After ordering a cup of coffee, Takumi gestured for them to order whatever they liked.
Index, knowing nothing about politeness, was thrilled at the offer and quickly ordered a whole table full of food.
"Sorry for the trouble. May I ask your names? I'll return the money later."
Touma hurriedly apologized and promised to pay Takumi back.
"Don't worry about it. I'm Takumi, and this is my girlfriend, Bronya."
"The reason I came to you today is actually because of Index."
Touma froze at those words.
Index instantly became alert.
"You're here for the Index Librorum Prohibitorum?"
Was that really it? That must be what he wanted.
Touma's brow furrowed.
"Sorry, if that's what this is about, I'll have to refuse!"
He rejected the idea without hesitation. The 103,000 grimoires in Index's mind were far too dangerous. He couldn't just hand her overnot to a stranger who'd helped with one small issue.
"Relax. Hear me out first."
Takumi looked at him, exasperated. He hadn't even finished speaking. Why the rush?
Seeing Touma and Index's guarded faces, Takumi continued:
"Let me introduce myself again. I'm Takumi. And I'm not from this world."
He said it openly.
Touma and Index were both stunned.
"Huh? Are you serious?"
"Are you joking right now?"
Touma stared, thinking this guy must be delusional.
But the next moment, the caf around them changed. The tables and chairs remained, but they were suddenly floating in outer space. The sun loomed beside thembut somehow, its heat was being blocked by an unknown energy.
Cold sweat broke out on Touma and Index's backs.
Touma quickly pinched himself.
Index didn't hesitate to bite Touma.
"Ow!!"
The pain was realcausing Touma to yelp.
"This... this isn't an illusion!"
Index gasped. Was this guy a Magic God? Why did he have such overwhelming power?
"I'm not a Magic God, okay? Don't lump me in with them."
"I just wanted to prove that I really am from another world."
"That's all. This isn't an illusion."
"Besides, if it were, your arm should've reacted."
With that, the scene shifted back to the caf.
Seeing the surroundings return to normal, Touma and Index were dumbfounded. Was he truly from another world?
"The Magic Gods in your world still rely on magic energy. Even if they use something else, it doesn't step outside the scope of magic."
"You don't have this kind of power in your world, right?"
With those words, Takumi released a surge of Honkai energy.
Touma and Index were both shocked.
Index's eyes widened.
"That's not magic energy!"
"This power... is terrifying!"
She could clearly feel how powerful it was. As someone who held 103,000 grimoires in her mind, she knew this wasn't something recorded in any of them.
"Wanna try it out?"
"Use your arm to see if you can cancel it."
Takumi smiled brightly.
Touma paused.
"Give it a shot?"
He really wanted to try.
His arm had always been able to negate all forms of powersupernatural or magical. What about this?
Curious, he reached out and touched the energy.
Nothing happened.
The Honkai energy didn't dissipate at all.
It stayed just as it was.
This was the first time Touma had encountered such a situation. He was shaken.
"Now do you believe me?"
"Your arm is powerful, but it can't erase my power."
"Let's make a deal."
"I'll make a copy of the 103,000 grimoires in Index's mind."
"In return, I'll enhance your arm with a secondary sealsomething you can control at will."
"It'll function like your instinct, something you can freely toggle."
"That way, you won't have to worry about your misfortune erasing even your own luck."
"What do you think?"
"Index, you don't want to be stuck sharing his bad luck forever, do you?"
"If he weren't unlucky, you could eat whatever you want without worrying about losing your meal because his wallet vanished."
Takumi smiled kindly at them and dissipated the energy in his hand.
Touma and Index were left speechless.
"You want the grimoires in my head?"
"But with power like yours, why do you even need them?"
Index didn't understand. Takumi seemed as strong as a Magic God. What use were those books to him?
"I already possess the Authority of Magic."
"Any magic I see once, I can basically understand and use."
"And I also wield magic systems from other worlds."
"Since I'm in your world now, naturally I want to collect its magical knowledge too."
"And you're basically a walking library."
"That's why I came to you."
"Of course, beyond helping Touma enhance his power, I can also help you gain magic energy."
"It's a shame, honestly."
"You have all that knowledge, but can't use any of it."
Takumi looked genuinely regretful.
Index's potential really was a shame to waste.
Chapter 308: It's Just an Automatic Switch for You
Index's situation was just like that cousin in some wuxia novel. She had thoroughly memorized all kinds of martial arts manuals, yet she couldn't use any of them herself.
Index could only use magic through the Automatic Writing Library, and even then, she was unconscious during the process. That was such a pity.
If Index could gain control over magic herself, then with her vast repository of knowledge, she could probably become one of the top-tier powerhouses in this world in no time. It wasn't impossible that she could become a Magic God one day. She had simply memorized too many grimoires.
Listening to what Takumi said, Index couldn't help but feel tempted. After all, she understood her own situation better than anyone. Sure, she possessed the Mobile Church and could use some magic that didn't require mana, but those spells were very limited.
Now, if Takumi could really give her magic... How could she not be moved?
Kamijou Touma felt the same way. His life had just been too full of misfortune.
Seeing the two of them wavering, Takumi continued,
"If I copy the books, it won't cause any harm to Index. And I'm not from this worldeventually I'll be leaving. So making a copy doesn't really hurt anyone, does it?
"Honestly, if I really wanted to, I could've just taken them by force. But I'm a nice guy. I wanted to ask you first."
Bronya rolled her eyes as soon as she heard that.
Nice guy, my foot.
If Takumi was a nice guy, there wouldn't be any bad people left in the world.
Still, what he said was true.
Index and Kamijou Touma looked at each other. They understood the logic.
And if Takumi really meant no harm, then maybe there was nothing to hesitate about?
"If it really won't hurt Index, then I'm fine with it," Touma said, voicing his approval first. "Index, what about you?"
Takumi was already showing them a lot of courtesy. They couldn't afford to be ungrateful.
Touma had always been someone with a good sense of judgment. Plus, it wasn't like Takumi was taking anything for free.
"Okay! If this works, you won't have to keep suffering from bad luck," Index responded. She had made up her mind.
Takumi smiled brightly.
"Good! Then it's settleddeal made. Index, here I come~!"
"Eh?" Index blinked in confusion.
Before she could react, she felt a foreign force invading her mind. She could clearly sense the presence of that external power.
The deep-level safeguards inside her body began to activate in response, but they were quickly shut down by Takumi. He directly forced them into a dormant state and began copying all the magical grimoires stored in her mind.
Seeing all this unfold, Touma grew a little nervous. Was everything really going to be okay?
But before he could worry too much, Takumi had already finished.
For Takumi, copying grimoires was child's play.
He didn't even need to make such a big show of it. He could've come and gone like a phantom and gotten what he wanted without anyone knowing.
With the copying complete, Takumi smiled cheerfully.
"Alright. Next stepgiving Index magic."
Takumi already had the hundred thousand grimoires in hand. He also now understood how the magic system in this world worked.
With a bit of calculation, he could easily figure out how to let Index possess magic perfectly.
"That's it?" Index was stunned. Everything felt so anticlimactic.
"Of course. I told you, if I wanted to sneak in, you'd never have noticed.
"But I'm not that kind of person."
Saying that, Takumi moved to begin the process of giving Index her own magic.
He reached out and lightly tapped her on the forehead.
"Let me fix the rest of your internal issues too. Since you're the Index Librorum Prohibitorum, there are a lot of restrictions inside you.
"Now that you've got magic, certain people definitely won't like that."
While speaking, Takumi disabled all the restrictions inside Index's body. Though they technically remained active, they were essentially rendered uselessthose controlling them wouldn't be able to do anything.
With that done, he planted a magic seed inside her.
With this seed, Index could now use all kinds of magic.
Technically, she had always possessed magical energy. Otherwise, the Automatic Writing Library couldn't activate in the first place.
What Takumi was doing now was just supplementing her with a magic seed and integrating her with the Automatic Writing Library.
After some tinkering, Takumi finished the process.
Index could now clearly feel the presence of magic inside her body.
She was overjoyed.
"This is amazing! I can finally use magic!"
Although it was just the beginning, she could feel the magic inside her growing stronger and stronger. In just a few days, she'd probably be able to use most of the spells she had memorized.
Seeing her excitement, Touma couldn't help but smile too.
"Now, it's your turn."
"Hold out your arm. I'm going to add a seal."
As Takumi said that, he couldn't help but mutter inwardlymore seals, on top of seals, on top of more seals.
Seriously, the guy's arm already had so many.
Touma's eyes lit up.
"Can I ask what kind of seal this is? If you add it, will I stop being unlucky?"
He'd had enough of being cursed by bad luck.
"Of course.
"Because I'm using power from another world to create this seal, it won't erase your right arm's ability.
"Instead, you'll be able to activate it at will.
"Even more importantly, the seal will automatically unlock itself when you're in mortal danger.
"Even if your whole arm is destroyed, the seal will still remain active.
"It's conceptualit'll function like your arm.
"Basically, this seal completes the ability in your arm."
Takumi tilted his head slightly.
Yeah, that sounded about right.
With this new seal, Touma's power would still be the sameImagine Breaker. But now, instead of being a passive ability, he could activate it on command.
Previously, the Imagine Breaker was so powerful that it even erased his own luck.
Now, with Takumi's seal, that flaw would be resolved.
His bad luck would only trigger when he actively used the ability.
Otherwise, he'd live like a normal person.
Takumi explained everything clearly.
After listening to it all, Kamijou Touma was absolutely thrilled.
This was just too good to be true.
Chapter 309: Go Find the Little Bee
Kamijou Touma was entirely convinced by what Takumi had said. Once everything was confirmed to be fine, Takumi began the process.
This deal was mutually beneficial to both parties.
Takumi started using Honkai energy to apply a new layer of sealing to Touma's arm, making sure the power within it would no longer negatively affect him.
It was quite a troublesome process. Thankfully, the people around them were already under the influence of Takumi's abilities. Otherwise, everyone's eyes would be drawn toward them.
Even when the waiter brought their food, they didn't seem to notice Takumi or Touma, as if the two of them were invisible.
Naturally, the food was devoured by Index.
Bronya wasn't interested in eating. What fascinated her more was watching Index eat.
By the time Takumi finished setting up the seal, more than ten minutes had passed.
"Done! Your arm is now sealed. You should be able to feel it, right? That's not your imagination."
Takumi beamed as he spoke.
Hearing this, Kamijou Touma concentrated and sensed the change.
"I can feel it. It's amazing. So... does this mean I won't be unlucky anymore?"
His voice grew more excited as he asked.
"Of course. You can test it out. This power comes from another world."
As he said this, Takumi formed a glowing green energy sphere in his handthe Atomic Collapse.
Seeing the energy sphere, Touma was momentarily stunned.
Takumi brought it right up to him. As he felt the energy radiating from it, sweat began to bead on Touma's forehead. It was dangerously powerful.
Still, he reached out to touch it, deliberately not deactivating his ability.
As soon as he approached, he felt a tingling sensation followed by a burning heat.
And yet, the energy remained undispersed.
Excited, Touma activated his ability.
With a crisp snap, the green sphere vanished entirely.
Seeing this, Touma was overjoyed.
"This... this is real!!"
"As you can see. It's done."
Takumi picked up his coffee and sipped it calmly.
"Thank you!"
Kamijou Touma earnestly expressed his gratitude.
Now he didn't have to worry about being unlucky anymore. He had waited a long time for this day.
Thinking about it filled him with joy.
"Alright, everything's done. Let's eat. Consider it a celebration."
Takumi was very pleased. Another goal achieved.
That pretty much wrapped up everything he needed to do in this world.
Next up would be the Magic Gods. And maybe go meet the Little Bee.
Messing around in front of Bronya while flirting with other girls was... kinda thrilling, especially since their relationship had just become official yesterday.
The four of them sat and drank coffee for a while. After chatting a bit, Touma and Index prepared to leave.
But before they left, Touma hesitated and then asked,
"Will you guys come back to this world again?"
He had learned Takumi was from another world. If they left, would they return?
"I'm not sure. Maybe. But if you ever need to contact me, look for someone named Saten Ruiko. She's pretty famous now."
Ruiko had suddenly jumped from Level 0 to Level 4, so many people knew about hershe had even made the news.
