Chapter 390: Livestream... Cinema!! (Bonus Chapter)
Several seconds passed.
The glow dispersed.
Edelweiss no longer looked like she was on the verge of death.
Once again, her eyes were bright with vitality as she gazed up at Rei Ao from below.
One would have expected her to say something grateful.
But
Edelweiss's lips parted, her voice clear and quiet.
"That thing pressing against me doesn't feel comfortablelike a sword."
" "
Saikyo Nene instinctively lowered her gaze to the "sword" Edelweiss was talking about, and her face immediately darkened.
She strongly suspected that even if Rei Ao let go now, Edelweiss still wouldn't fall
That thing alone could probably support her entire body!
It was outrageous!
No. More than outrageousdownright scary.
She couldn't imagine how Kurono and the others could handle it "all in one go."
"Ah."
Rei Ao simply said, "You're calling it uncomfortable now. Just make sure you don't beg me to continue later."
[Ding! Trade Complete!]
[Ding! Congratulations, you have obtained the abilities "Swordsmanship" and "Inherent Device: Testament"!]
[Ding! Detected that "Sword Aura" can be fused with "Swordsmanship," resulting in the ability "Sword King"!]
[Ding! Detected that "Inherent Device: Twin Swords" can be fused with "Inherent Device: King of Myriad Forms," resulting in "King of Myriad Forms"!]
A straightforward fusion of abilities.
Rei Ao was in no mood to be concerned with these minor details at the moment.
"Esdeath, it looks like you two need a handshake to make peace, so let me act as the bridge between you, all right?"
"!!!"
Saikyo Nene assumed he meant a magnanimous gesture of reconciliation after a fierce battle.
Who would have thought
Shortly afterward
Saikyo Nene looked on as one woman perched on that part of him and another woman sat on his waist.
All around them was a group functioning as the "mood setters."
Rustle, rustle.
A gentle breeze stirred the leaves.
Saikyo Nene simply felt that the world was cold and heartless.
She lifted her head.
A single tear slipped from the corner of her eye.
"What kind of 'bridge for communication' is this?!"
"Knock, knock!"
"Come in."
Click.
Kato Megumi looked curiously toward her bedroom door, which had just opened.
"Sis?"
It was her older sister, Kato Hiromi, poking her head in.
"Why are you here so late?"
"Haha, can't I come spend some sisterly time with you, Megumi?"
"Really?"
Kato Megumi didn't think her sister had come just for some sibling bonding.
"Ahem"
Feeling self-conscious under Megumi's gaze, Kato Hiromi's eyes darted about. "Actually, I wanted to ask about you and Rei Ao."
"In what sense?"
Kato Megumi blinked calmly.
She suddenly asked, "Could it be about the same sort of content currently in the livestream?"
"Uh"
Kato Hiromi's cheeks turned pink, clearly embarrassed.
Admitting it would be like confessing she'd secretly been watching Megumi's man.
Just then
[Ding! The chat group has unlocked a new feature: 'Livestream Cinema'!!]
'Livestream Cinema': When turned on, if you and those around you also turn on this feature, you share a single, larger, clearer screen for the livestream!
Rei Ao noticed the effect of this new feature, but for his current "painting" endeavors, it wasn't much use, so he didn't pay it any mind.
Meanwhile, nobody in the chat group truly understood what it did yet.
Some people tried it out on instinct.
At Yukino's apartment
On the sofa, both Mabel and Yukino were dying of awkwardness.
After activating the new feature, they saw a gigantic, cinema-like livestream screen appear before them.
They stared, dumbfounded, at the onscreen Rei Ao, who was "clapping" with gusto.
They could hear everything clearly.
Neither of them dared speak.
Eventually, Yukino's ears burned with embarrassment, and she abruptly shut off the feature, leaving behind a quick, "I'm going to bed," before getting up to return to her room.
" "
Mabel watched her retreating back and muttered, "So Yukino enjoys watching this stuff too, huh."
Izawa Shizue: "This new feature is really strange"
Frieren: "An interesting feature."
Frieren: "Now Aura and I can watch the livestream together."
Seeing Aura start trying to cuddle up, Frieren snapped, "Hey, not on my bed! Move!"
"You won't join me? I could help you."
"I don't need your helpI have Rei Ao."
"Tsk."
Many in the chat who happened to be with someone else finally understood the meaning of secondhand embarrassment.
Kato Megumi and Kato Hiromi were no exception.
"Gulp"
Seeing Rei Ao's overwhelming vigor as he simultaneously handled multiple opponents, Kato Hiromi sat there in Megumi's bedroom, too restless to stay still.
"Sigh, I'll be going nowI'm fine!"
She intended to flee the scene.
As soon as she stood
Kato Megumi spoke softly: "Sis, don't you think you owe me an explanation for secretly watching my boyfriend?"
"Uh"
Her body froze.
Busted!
Kato Hiromi realized she couldn't escape.
Resigned, she sat back down, looking grim. "Megumi, don't blame me. I only planned on watching the livestream, but I didn't expect Rei Ao would just be out in the wild embracing natur"
She spoke while gauging Megumi's expression.
But Megumi was stoic as ever!
From that calmly appealing face, Kato Hiromi couldn't read anything.
Her heart pounded anxiously.
What in the world is Megumi thinking?
She didn't want this to cause any rift between them as sisters.
While she wondered how to explain herself further, Kato Megumi lifted a slender finger and pointed at a spot on the screen.
She asked, "Sis, do you think that's big or small?"
Kato Hiromi's mind went blank for a moment. By reflex, she nodded. "B-big. Shockingly big."
But only after saying it did she realize what she was describing.
That thingRei Ao's, um size.
"Ugh! Megumi, I, I, I"
Flustered, Kato Hiromi tried to explain.
Kato Megumi interrupted her: "Sis, you don't have any experience with that, do you?"
"Huh?"
Another bizarre question, and Kato Hiromi's mind practically shut down.
She had no such experience, but did that mean Megumi was mocking her?
Not at all.
Kato Megumi stepped forward, took her sister's hands, and said calmly, "The next time Rei Ao visits, let's do it together."
The room fell silent.
After a while
"Huh?!"
Kato Hiromi's startled shout burst from Kato Megumi's bedroom.

Chapter 391: Inori's Situation...
Roppongi Fort.
Underground base of Funeral Parlor.
"Still haven't found Inori?"
A deep frown appeared on the face of the man called Tsutsugami Gai.
Shinomiya Ayase shook her head. "No. We've completely lost Inori's whereabouts."
"But we've learned that something big happened at that GHQ branch. Apparently a lot of people died there."
Tsugumi squinted in suspicion. "Could Inori have taken them out?"
"Impossible."
Ayase dismissed the idea:
"Not only was a complete squad wiped out, several pieces of powered armor were lost as well. Inori alone couldn't possibly pull that off."
That was from practical experiencebesides, Inori wasn't exactly a combat type.
"All right."
Then Ayase continued her report:
"But we also found that GHQ hasn't stopped searching for Inori."
Both of them looked at Gai. His brow was deeply furrowed with a worry that wouldn't fade.
He was concerned about the whereabouts of the Void Genome.
From the intel at hand, one could conclude that Inori had indeed obtained the Void Genome.
Now, her whereabouts were unknown, and whether she was alive or dead was unclear.
But given GHQ's actions, there was a possibility that Inori was still alive.
"Keep searching."
"Yes, sir!"
Leaning on his cane, Gai slowly left, trembling as he went.
""
Tsugumi scratched her head and muttered quietly, "Sis, you think the boss won't last much longer?"
The way he was aging so rapidlyhis body deterioratingjust made one's heart ache.
Who would believe he was still under twenty?
Ayase shot her a glare, scolding: "Don't talk nonsense."
"Right, got it."
Tsugumi stuck her tongue out guiltily.
"Sigh."
She let out a deep sigh.
Though Tsugumi's remark was harsh, even Ayase was full of worry.
She remembered when they first joined the Funeral ParlorTsutsugami Gai was still quite young.
In just a few short years, he looked like he had one foot in the grave.
Ayase also suspected Tsutsugami Gai might not have much time left.
When that day came, what would become of Funeral Parlor?
As she worried about the future
Tsugumi suddenly yelped in surprise. "Sis, there's an encrypted message!"
"Huh?"
Following her gaze, Ayase saw a new message pop up on the screen.
Immediately, alarms blared.
Their signal was hidden, so who could have found them?
"Open it."
Under Ayase's quick instructions, Tsugumi performed some deft operations.
"Got it."
Moments later, the encryption was cracked.
They both looked at the signature in unison.
"Inori?!"
Their eyes immediately lit up.
A message from Inori.
"We've got word from her! I'll go let the boss know!"
Tsugumi jumped up in excitement.
But Ayase grabbed her arm, quietly stopping her. "Wait, Tsugumi."
"What is it?"
Tsugumi furrowed her brows, puzzled.
"Read the message carefully."
Following Ayase's lead, Tsugumi started reading.
The very first line said:
"Tsugumi, Ayasefirst of all, do not tell anyone else about my message."
"Eh? What's going on?"
She wants to hide her own info? Didn't Inori realize how worried everyone was about her?
"Sis, you think Yuzuriha Inori is in danger and being monitored?"
"Shh, just keep reading."
Ayase's expression grew unusually grim as she finished most of the text. She grasped what Inori meant to convey:
It wasn't that Inori was in danger or under surveillance; rather, she didn't trust the Funeral Parlor.
Tsugumi finished reading as well, baffled.
"What's this about? Inori won't let us disclose her whereabouts, and now she's wary of Funeral Parlor?"
"No, she's wary of Tsutsugami Gai."
Ayase narrowed her eyes.
One line in particular caught her attention:
"Tsutsugami Gai has betrayed the objective of the Funeral Parlor. Nohe never shared that objective to begin with."
"Tch"
Tsugumi clutched her head with both hands, feeling itchy on her scalp.
"What on earth is going on?"
Just because she disappeared during one mission, Inori seemed like a totally different person.
"We still can't be sure it's truly Inori."
Ayase remained the calmer one.
But another new message arrived soon after.
They quickly decrypted it, finding several photos of Inori from multiple angles.
"I'm fine. If you want to know the truth, come to XX to see me. Please believe me."
" "
With that, there was a high chance it really was Inorithough not guaranteed absolutely.
"So what do we do?"
Tsugumi glanced at her sister.
Logically, they should report this to the boss at once, but she didn't dare decide alone. She waited for her sister's verdict.
""
After a brief moment of thought, Ayase let out a long breath and said firmly, "Tsugumi, erase every trace of these messages."
"!!!"
Tsugumi was startled. She hadn't expected her sister to make such a call.
"Sis, do you trust Inori?"
Ayase shook her head.
"It's not about trusting or not trusting. I want to see her in person, hear what she says with my own ears, then make a judgment."
Her eyes were dark, her tone serious.
"Soon, we'll find an excuse to leave. We'll see for ourselves if Inori has discovered some secret or if she's betrayed us."
"Got it, Sis. I'm on it."
Tsugumi immediately went to work deleting all traces of the information.
Meanwhile
"You're really giving them our actual location?"
Arisa had witnessed all of Yuzuriha Inori's operations from start to finish.
Arms crossed, her brows knitted. "You sure they'll believe you and not expose us?"
She didn't think this was a good idea at all. She didn't trust people she hadn't met.
"I trust them," Inori said calmly.
"Heh. What's there to be afraid of?"
A moment ago, Inori seemed calm, but the next second she gave a seductive smilethis was Mana surfacing.
Arisa and Hare knew the truth, so they were already used to her switching personalities.
Mana giggled. "Anyway, if something does happen, you can always call on that hypocrite for help. In the end, you'll get to enjoy some thorough 'filtering.' Doesn't sound so bad, does it?"
""
Arisa had to admit she was temptedeven wishing, faintly, that something would happen.
"Huh?"
Hare, who had yet to experience such a thing, blushed furiously.
She was curious.
"S-so does it really feel that good?"
Mana and Arisa exchanged glances, both of their earlobes turning red.
"Honestly, Hare, you'll only know once you try it yourself."
"O-okay"
" "
The atmosphere instantly grew awkward.

Chapter 392: The Truth about Gai
"Finally it's over."
With the first ray of morning sunlight shining down, Saikyo Nene stiffly raised her head.
Ah.
It felt like relief.
Do you have any idea what kind of night I've just endured?!
She hadn't been able to do anything except stand there.
But she had to admitRei Ao's strength was terrifying.
Even she could see it.
No wonder that old woman Kurono was completely under his controlhe really was incredible.
Look at Edelweiss, supposedly the most wanted criminal in that other world, normally so cold and distant yet completely different when she was around Rei Ao.
"You have such a strange look on your face."
Rei Ao came up to her.
""
Saikyo Nene tugged at the corner of her mouth.
"Could you at least put some clothes on when you stand in front of me?"
"Ah, but you looked like you were enjoying the view."
"Which eye of yours saw me enjoying it?!"
